WILL I BE ALLOWED TO SMOKE OR CONSUME TOBACCO PRODUCTS BEFORE GETTING A HAIR TRANSPLANT?
Nicotine is known to cause excessive bleeding, so it is not advisable to consume any tobacco product before or on the day of the surgery. Besides, the toxic chemicals in smoke can also adversely affect the quality of hair grafts.
WHAT ARE SOME OF THE PRECAUTIONS THAT I NEED TO TAKE BEFORE THE SURGERY?
You should not consume tobacco, alcohol, coffee, green tea, or take blood thinners, such as aspirin, after ten days prior to the surgery.
HOW LONG IS THE RECOVERY TIME AFTER THE HAIR TRANSPLANT TREATMENT?
A special bandage is applied after the surgery, and the patient is discharged in a couple of hours. Some pain relievers may be prescribed, depending on the pain level. The patient will be able to resume daily activities after three days.
WHERE IS THE HAIR USUALLY TAKEN FROM DURING A HAIR TRANSPLANT?
Usually, the hair grafts are taken from the nuchal area and transplanted at the hairless regions. However, when there isn’t healthy hair present in the nuchal or temporal region, hair follicles are taken from other parts of the body with hair, such as the chest or arms of the patient.
